“As things begin to normalize, it is great to see the expansion and growth of the Masters’ Week airline flight offerings.” Said Herbert L. Judon Jr., Airport Executive Director. “We are privileged to provide one of the main gateways for thousands of visitors travelling to and from our city. However, I also want to especially remind our locals that these additional flights also represent an opportunity to “get out of town” and enjoy service to destinations we may not normally provide.”

The above flight offerings begin April 2nd and will run through April 10th, 2023. Visit www.FlyAGS.com today to book your flights.

AGS Receives Funds Through Tap Grant!

Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) is proud to be a recipient of an FY2023 Airport Terminal Program (ATP) grant. The ATP is part of the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). It is a five year 5-Billion-dollar competitive discretionary grant program aimed at infrastructure enhancements at our nation’s Airports. One of the goals of the program is to help meet the growing demand of air travel and invest in airport improvements.

The federal government announced on February 27th that AGS will receive a grant in the amount of $3,000,000. This money will be used to help fund a portion of the Airport’s Terminal Gates 3 & 4 Rehabilitation/Expansion Project. The AGS project was one of 104 selected from 99 airports. The primarily goal of this project is to reconfigure two terminal aircraft gates to install passenger boarding bridges in lieu of ground boarding (walking outside). AGS currently has operational passenger boarding bridges at two of six aircraft gates.

“We are extremely grateful for the federal support and thank all those who worked and advocated for us.” Said Mr. Herbert L. Judon Jr. Airport Executive Director. “These funds will provide for a large portion of the construction of our Terminal Improvement Project. Once complete, we will add extra square footage, new amenities, and two additional passenger boarding bridges. This very important endeavor will further modernize our terminal facility, increase functionality, and significantly enhance the customer experience.”

The Airport is slated to begin the terminal construction in mid-summer 2023 and it is projected for completion in the first quarter of 2024.

AGS Highlights Local Artists for Fourth Quarter!

Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) is excited to provide the traveling public with amazing works of art from one local artist for the final quarter of the year.

The AGS Art Committee selected this artist to highlight their talents in the commercial terminal building for the fourth quarter of the year. The airport is the perfect venue to have artwork viewed by thousands of travelers, as well as showcase the talent of the local art community.

Bruce McElya, from Aiken, South Carolina, has extensive experience in photography. A graduate from Texas Tech. University, Bruce earned a degree in Civil Engineering and Telecommunications. In 1974 he began his commercial photography business shooting large format ektachromes for architects. His work was featured in Architectural Record and Architectural Digest.

Mr. McElya began shooting black and whites to be sold in galleries. He likes to focus on nature and wildlife. One collection of work focuses on a family of swans from the Colorado River that runs through the Grand Canyon.

You can see Bruce’s work in the gate area October through December.

Augusta Regional Airport Hosts Third Annual Meet-a-Machine Benefitting Childhood Cancer Awareness!

Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) is proud to host the Third Annual Meet-a-Machine benefitting the Children’s Hospital of Georgia.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. According to the National Cancer Institute, there will be an estimated 10,470 new cases of children, from birth to age 14, diagnosed with different forms of cancer each year.

The Meet-a-Machine is a family event that provides the public the opportunity to see, touch, and learn about multiple types of vehicles. These vehicles include emergency response vehicles, planes, aircraft equipment, construction equipment, and much more. The event is designed to raise funds to support the research into the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatments, and cures of childhood cancers.

“We are grateful for the Augusta Regional Airport’s continued support of the Children’s Hospital of Georgia,” said Kelsey McCullough, CMN Philanthropy Coordinator. “The funds raised by this organization greatly impact our patients.”

“We are, once again, honored to host the “Meet a Machine” event and to do our small part to highlight the impacts of pediatric cancer and the important and outstanding work the Children’s Hospital of Georgia does in this space,” said Herbert L. Judon, Jr., Airport Executive Director. “We are appreciative of the many individuals and organizations that display their “machines” for this event. It is heartwarming to see the patience and kindness these individuals convey when children interact with their “machines”. “As you travel through AGS you will also see a display of gold pinwheels at the entrance of the Airport. These are a small recognition of those lost or battling cancer.”

Meet-a-Machine will be held on September 17th from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. by Hangar One at Augusta Regional Airport. Tickets are $5 per adult. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at https://flyags.ticketleap.com/meet-a-machine-2022/

This event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors; Children’s Hospital of Georgia, Portable Services, Textron, Chick-f-la, Coke-a-Cola, iHeart Media, Cakes by Rosemary’s Daughters, The Bearded Chef, Bay & Scrap, River City Coffee, and Prime Time Bar & Grille.
